Notes & sources
- 1.AI Companion Trip Pass is $14.99 per trip, charged once. Full refund if the trip is cancelled before departure. Listing trips, introductions to fellow travellers and in-platform messaging remain free of charge. Whether anyone else is on a given flight varies by route, date and demand; an introduction is never guaranteed.
- 2.Unaccompanied-minor escort fees, retrieved 2026: Delta and American Airlines, $150 USD each way (ages 5 to 14); British Airways, $150 each way for ages 15 to 17 and £35 to £80 for ages 5 to 12; Emirates, $50 per sector (ages 12 to 15); Air India and other carriers operate comparable paid programmes. Every major airline caps the service at age 17.
- 3.Based on the published special-assistance and optional-service-fee schedules of major carriers worldwide as of 2026: none offers a paid escort product for an adult passenger, and unaccompanied-minor programmes end at age 17. Independent airport meet-and-assist and concierge vendors serve adults for a fee, with no consistent standard between them and coverage limited to selected airports.
- 4.14 CFR § 382.103: a carrier must not leave a passenger who has requested assistance unattended in a ground or boarding wheelchair, in which the passenger is not independently mobile, for more than 30 minutes. - 5.Directorate General of Civil Aviation (India) penalty of ₹30 lakh (about US$36,000) on Air India, February 2024, after an 80-year-old passenger arriving on a New York to Mumbai flight was not provided a requested wheelchair, walked to the terminal, collapsed and died. Reported by Business Standard, Deccan Herald and others.
- 6.DGCA (India) draft rules issued August 2025 permit airlines to charge a fee for wheelchair assistance requested by able-bodied passengers, including seniors in good health, while keeping assistance free for passengers with a disability, reduced mobility or a genuine medical need.
- 7.Assistance for passengers with disabilities and reduced mobility is provided without additional charge under 14 CFR § 382.31 (United States), Regulation (EC) 1107/2006 (EU and UK) and equivalent rules elsewhere. Eligibility and service standards differ widely between countries. Physical assistance booked through MatchMyFlight (meet & assist) is delivered by airport service partners, named at booking. It is not a substitute for this statutory assistance, which you should still request from the airline.
